Are you passionate about yoga and ready to share its transformative power with others? The first steps on the journey to become a certified yoga instructor is a rewarding and fulfilling path. However, the beginning of the certification can seem daunting. That's why we've created this guide to help you with the steps towards becoming a certified yoga instructor with confidence and clarity.
What to do before jump into a certification
Deepen Your Practice: Before diving into teacher training, it's essential to deepen your own yoga practice. Immerse yourself in various styles of yoga and find what feels better in you, explore different teachers and studios, and establish a consistent practice routine. This step is crucial for building a strong foundation and understanding of yoga principles.

Research Teacher Training Programs: Research and explore different yoga teacher training programs to find one that aligns with your goals, schedule, modality (In person, Online, hybrid), and learning style: this can be Vinyasa, Hatha, Ashtanga, Power, Bikram. Consider factors such as program duration: you'll be able to find 200 hours, 300 hours and 500 YTT (You’ll need to start with 200 hours or the whole 500 hours. The 300 hours are an addition, designed for all instructors that took only the 200 hours first in order to complete the 500 RYT), curriculum, accreditation, location, and instructor credentials. Attend information sessions, read reviews, and reach out to past graduates for insights.
Choose the Right Program: Once you've narrowed down your options, carefully evaluate each program to ensure it meets your needs and expectations. Look for a program that offers comprehensive instruction, experienced faculty, small class sizes, practice teaching opportunities, and a supportive learning environment.
Once in the certification

Commit to Your Training: Commit wholeheartedly to your teacher training program and immerse yourself fully in the learning process. Dedicate time to attend classes, complete assignments, participate in workshops, and engage with your peers and instructors. Stay open-minded, curious, and receptive to new experiences and perspectives.
Practice, Practice, Practice: Practice teaching regularly to improve your skills and build confidence as an instructor. Seek feedback from peers and instructors, and be willing to incorporate constructive criticism into your teaching approach. Embrace opportunities to teach in various settings and to diverse student populations.
Embrace the Journey: Embrace the ups and downs of the journey to becoming a certified yoga instructor with patience, perseverance, and gratitude. Recognize that growth and transformation take time, and trust in your innate abilities and potential as a teacher. Stay connected to your passion for yoga and let it guide you on your path.
